The fifteen-minute daily routine
This is the sequence we teach in every workshop and reinforce in Friday clinics. It fits before the UK market open and scales whether you trade indices, FX, or commodities.
Learn it hands-on in the workshopA good routine answers three questions before you place a trade: What is the higher-timeframe bias? Where would that bias be wrong? Where might lower timeframes offer entry within that structure? The steps below take most traders twelve to eighteen minutes once practised.
Weekly chart — mark structure (3 min)
Open the weekly chart for your primary market. Mark the most recent swing high and low, any obvious horizontal levels touched three or more times, and note whether price is making higher highs or lower lows over the last eight candles. Write one word for bias: bullish, bearish, or ranging.
Daily chart — confirm or conflict (4 min)
Drop to the daily timeframe. Check whether recent daily candles support the weekly bias. Mark the daily level that would invalidate your weekly view if broken on a closing basis. If daily and weekly conflict, your plan for the day is to stand aside or trade smaller until they align.
Four-hour chart — locate the session (3 min)
Identify where price sits relative to the daily levels you marked. Note the nearest four-hour support and resistance. This frame tells you whether the morning session is likely to be a pullback, a breakout attempt, or a range day inside yesterday's daily candle.
Calendar and news check (2 min)
Scan today's economic calendar for events affecting your market. Mark the time of high-impact releases. Decide now whether you will trade through the event, flatten before it, or avoid the session entirely. Write this decision down — do not decide in the moment.
Write a one-page plan (3 min)
On paper or in your journal, record: weekly bias, daily invalidation level, four-hour key zone, and two scenarios (e.g. "If price holds above X, look for longs toward Y" and "If X breaks, no longs — reassess at Z"). Hourly entries come only after this page exists.
This routine is taught step-by-step in our Multi-Timeframe Workshop. For ongoing feedback, join the Friday clinic or book a coaching session to adapt the sequence to your markets.
